Since it was founded in 1867, the focus has been on selling works of art from the Düsseldorf school of painting around the brothers Andreas and Oswald Achenbach, Hugo Mühlig, Max Clarenbach, Johann Wilhelm and Emilie Preyer. Over time, the portfolio expanded to classical modernism (Ludwig Kirchner, Gabriele Münter, Emil Nolde), French impressionists (Paul Signac, Jules Cavailles), Scandinavian landscape painters (Peder Mönsted, Michael Ancher) and abstract art after 1945 (ZERO artists, Gerhard Richter, Blinky Palermo).

150 years of art history
For over 150 years, Galerie Paffrath has provided both private individuals and public collections with competent expertise.
Every year, in addition to special exhibitions on individual artists or themes, a spring and an autumn exhibition are held in which the gallery presents its latest new acquisitions.
An exclusive venue at the Breidenbacher Hof
In August 2022, the Galerie Paffrath changed the Kö side and has since been located in the Breidenbacher Hof building with an entrance on Kö 11. The increase in exhibition space has now enabled a display warehouse for temporary exhibitions, a black box for storing customers' works of art and an exhibition space will be opened for the Paffrath Art Foundation.
